Mis-Adventures of Adam West #3
Bluewater Comics (February, 2012)
WRITER: Jeffrey Renaud PENCILER: Luis Rivera COLORIST: Maricio Pinzon LETTERER: Warren Montgomery SERIES CREATORS: Adam West & Darren G. Davis
As archaeologist Howard Carter, Adam investigates a pyramid that is supposed to be the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamen but he ends up being very much alive. Also there is Julie Newmar, one of the three actresses to play Catwoman when West played Batman. With Stevens/Lord Carnavon in the game and Serena in danger (again), Adam may end up parting with something important, but will it be enough?
What they got right: Putting Adam into an Indiana Jones style adventure is a cool idea, and I wonder if this will also be a set up for the upcoming Julie Newmar comic. Also, points for finding a way to get Robertson into the story.
What they got wrong: Now they’re starting to reference the old Batman series too often. It may be what Adam was best know for, but not the only thing he’s ever done. Also, how does “Bastet” remember her FUTURE life as actress Julie Newmar? I also wonder why they’re still bothering to put him into fictional characters when it only takes a few pages before everyone just refers to him as Adam West anyway?
Recommendation: Still as fun as ever and worth picking up.
