I have a v-log recorded from seeing The Avengers over the weekend, but my computer (mostly my internet connection but also my video editor crashing worse than ever) doesn’t even want me to get my FCBD interview with Dan Dos Santos done. Now the BW IT guy is going to take the computer and give it a full run-through to see what the problem is. I’m going to try and get as much content done this week as I can.

I can say this about the movie, though. While I wasn’t as excited as some others on the net, I very much enjoyed it. The characters were well done, the fights were amazing, and I will get the DVD when it comes out. So I liked it a lot, just not as much as the internet at large seems to. However, why has this movie done so well when I though Hollywood was telling us we wanted dark and cynical stuff like Hancock, Watchmen,  and the Batman films? Isn’t that why we’re getting a darker Superman in Man of Steel?

Devin Faraci of Badass Digest thinks maybe we don’t, that times have changed and the public wants characters who have more than one dimension to them, but ultimately are still heroes at their core. He explains why in this article, and while I have some minor nitpicks I think he makes a good case that I mostly agree with, so check it out. (Thanks to Snell of Slay Monstrobot of the Deep for posting this on Twitter.)
