Gamers often complain, and rightfully so, that video game movies aren’t very good. The people involved don’t make the game accurate enough (anything by Uwe Boll) or are too busy mimicking the look of the game to make a good story (Doom) or are trying to make gamers look bad (Gamer?). Now from Disney comes Wreck-It Ralph, a tribute to video game arcades (are those still around?) and video games through the years. Since this week is E3, it shouldn’t be a surprise that they’ve released a trailer.
This one has a chance to work because it’s animated. An animated movie or show allows a larger suspension of disbelief, so it’s easier to accept the rules of a video game universe as is rather than trying to convince a “real” world to display concepts that can only exist in a video game. Plus it looks like it could be fun.
You can check out more at the official movie website, and even play a version of the game Ralph comes from, “Fix-It Felix Jr.”.
