Richie Rich: Rich Rescue #6
Ape Entertainment/Kidzoic (2012)
CONCEPT: Brent E. Erwin COLORIST: Dustin Evans COVER: Rob Duenas EDITOR: Aaron Sparrow IN MEMORY OF SID COUCHEY (1919-2012) “THE LOCH IS THE KEY!” WRITER: Buddy Scalera ARTIST: Marcelo Ferreira (also Pin-Up) LETTERER: Deron Bennett HUMAN COMPUTER WRITER: Lennie Herman ARTIST: Warren Kramer LETTERER: Joe Rosen
When Richie’s Aunt Noovo and her monster-hunting film crew go missing. Rich Rescue heads out to find them and ends up teaming with Mayda Munny and her team. Mayda wants Richie for herself, but does she have her limits? And what does this all have to do with the Loch Ness Monster? The back up strip has young Richie testing out a new computer.
What they got right: Hey, Rich Rescue is finally trying to rescue someone! I like Mayda and her team, the manservant robot and lady bodyguard (even her cat). They make a good mirror of Richie’s team (sans Gloria and Reggie). Were they keeping this series going, I could see this version of her leading to a spin-off adventure comic.
What they got wrong: Although they never explain what Team Munny is doing out there in the first place.
Recommendation: I still want to see a Rich Rescue cartoon, but sadly they’ll be replacing this series with one based on the original Richie Rich idea. I’ll miss this version.

I’m still trying to figure out why Richie brought him in.
