Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Series #3: Donatello
IDW Publishing (February, 2012)
WRITER: Brian Lynch CO-SCRIPTER: Tom Waltz ARTIST: Valerio Schiti COLORS: Scarletgothica & Ilaria Traversi LETTERER: Robbie Robbins EDITOR: Bobby Curnow SELECTED COVER: David Peterson (art)
Donatello attends a science convention where he runs across his internet rival as he’s being recruited by Baxter Stockman. Can our hero convince a rival not to become his enemy?
What they got right: Donnie gets his own focus story and you get some decent insight into the character. Plus his rival uses the screenname “Kirbyfan_01”. While the original series also included an homage to Jack Kirby (Donnie meets a comic artist Kirby who gets drawn into a comic book world) this is a different story but getting the reference in there was kind of cute.
What they got wrong: Who the heck designs devices that work off your lifeforce as plan “A” without a good reason? I would have gone right to the battery pack idea, and I’m not a genius.
Recommendation: I wish I had been picking up the IDW Turtles comics right through. There are some good stories and characters in this run and I very much recommend it.

Like you don’t do the same thing with the TV remote.
