As the crew of the Lost Light assess their damage and recover their lost, Skids arrives riddled with amnesia and being attacked by two robots who only say “nineteen eighty-four”. And what other secrets does the ship hold? (We learned of at least one in the next issue.)

What they got right: There’s a good mix of characters and action. It’s not bogged down with exposition, probably because they don’t know anything yet, and it serves its main goal of introducing the cast to each other and letting us get into their heads.

What they got wrong: There may be too many characters here, leading to the possibility of characters being created just to be destroyed. Plus I really hate this version of Whirl and I barely know the character since he was only used in UK stories back in the old days.

Recommendation: This still appears to be the more fun of the two titles. At the very least it’s worth a look.

In Cyclonus’ defense, last issue showed Whirl turning his friends into wall hangings. You’d be ticked, too.

And from a more historical position, if Whirl and his buddies hadn’t hassled Megatron for speaking out against the government, he might not be the evil, power-mongering death machine he became and there would be no war and no Decepticons. So thanks for that.
