World’s Finest #3
DC Comics (Sept. 2012)
“Rebirth III” WRITER: Paul Levitz [PRESENT DAY] PENCILER: George Pérez INKER: Scott Koblish COLORS: Hi-Fi [FLASHBACK] ARTIST: Kevin Maguire COLORIST: Rosemary Cheeham LETTERER: Carlos M. Mangual EDITOR: Wil Moss “HUNTRESS” CREATORS: Paul Levits, Joe Staton, & Bob Layton
The heroines chase Hakkou after forcing him out of the power plant. (And in the flashback Karen chases Mr. Terrific when she learns he may have a way to get them home.) However, he’s absorbed so much radiation that he’s grown to kaiju-size–and he’s loose in Tokyo!
What they got right: The interactions between Huntress and Power Girl continue to be the best part of the book. The different artists on the flashback and current events still seems unnecessary but it’s harder to tell the difference now.
What they got wrong: Karen seems a bit too willing to flaunt her assets, between joking with Helena about how “developed” she is and willing to use her sexuality to charm Michael Holt. Maybe I haven’t read enough of her stories but it seemed more like the other way around; that others were more interested in her “assets” than she was (and sadly this included many of the writers).
Recommendation: Hopefully next month is the last issue of this storyline because Hakkou is starting to wear out his welcome for me, but I hope to see more of this series.

She’s pretty good at baseball, too.
