Kup really wants to go after the straggling Decepticons and thinks Prime is (has gone? still is?) soft, trying to maintain a truce with the Decepticons, even after the assassination of the Last Autobot. Now in command of the Wreckers (did they exist in US Marvel stories?), Kup and his team decide to leave for Earth…and find the planet blown to heck by Megatron!

What they got right: As you know I’m not what you’d call a Simon Furman fan. I will say He does refine his version of the characters, although I’m more than ready for that to change. Andrew Wildman’s robots have improved since the old days, when they looked like people in robot costumes. The coloring is fantastic.

What they got wrong: The Earth is trashed? I know they weren’t planning to make this a connection between Marvel’s original run and Generation 2 (which to me should have been where he continued from), but why trash Earth? Is Furman trying to emulate All Hail Megatron, the story that led to a new direction for the IDW series and led him off? Didn’t he already do this IN Generation 2? And why even go to Earth? Kup really gives no reason for going there, or wanting to go to Nebulos after that other than that’s the two main not-Cybertron planets Transformers have hung out on in the Marvel run.

Recommendation: I can’t honestly shoo anyone away from this issue. Most of my problems are personal, but I’m betting, based on history, things will get worse soon.

See, they look like robots as they rush to remove your spine.
