Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #9
IDW Publishing (September, 2012)
“Shadowplay” part 1: “Post Hoc” WRITER: James Roberts ARTIST: Alex Milne SELECTED COVER ARTIST: Nich Roche COLORIST: Josh Burcham LETTERER: Chris Mowry EDITOR: John Barber
To help Rung get his brain jumpstarted, Rewind and Chromedome get other crew members to recall an incident they all ended up a part of, a murder of a Cybertronian senator before the war. Chromedome, Prowl, Drift, and Ratchet are involved, as is Orion Pax. In the present someone tried to kill another member of the crew.
What they got right: As pre-war Cybertron stories go, rare as they sadly are, this is a darn good one. A murder mystery as Prowl and Chromedome investigate. Another one in the present day. Will the two be related? Heck, even Prowl isn’t totally annoying in the usual IDW style.
What they got wrong: I’m starting to think these people want to write “Action Masters”. They seem to be making transforming as much of a pain as they possibly can, like the characters hate alt modes. Enough with the sky sled things and just turn into a vehicle!
Recommendation: I have my issues but this is at least fun and I’ve been wanting a good pre-war story. I hope this is it.

Now this is how I like my Optimus Prime.
