Ivan leaves a phone message for his mom explaining why he became a superhero (and in the traditional “flashback splash page” we learn why she might not be happy about it) while searching cosmically for the older superheroes. Meanwhile, the other kids prepare to deal with the President until they’re betrayed by one of their own.

What they got right: Ivan’s backstory, and that of his mother, might make for some interesting stories in the future (and I hope this series is an ongoing or becomes one). The action is good, and even though earlier issues already hinted at who the traitor would be, it doesn’t hurt the story.

What they got wrong: I would have liked to have seen Kid Vigilante show some remorse about Cindy’s death. You know “I’m sorry she’s gone, especially how it happened, but we don’t have time to morn if we’re going to pull this off.” I know, I’m never satisfied.

Recommendation: I still want to see the stories before these events, but I’m getting back into this story. Worth taking a look at.

Ah, story potential. Make this happen, guys. Like Radioactive Man without the parody.
