“The Four Seasons” part 4, “Winter”
WRITER/ARTIST: Roger Langridge

LETTERER: Litomilano S.r.l.
COVER ARTISTS: Elisabetta Melaranci & Gianluca Barone

Winter of course means Christmas and while Piggy is hoping for a special sparkly gift from Kermit, he’s disappointed that Gonzo’s latest stunt wrecked a gift from his Great-Aunt.

Skits include: The Swedish Chef, whose pudding later wrestles Gonzo in the next sketch, Sam’s reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” being interrupted by a thief, Pigs In Space, and a 12 Days of Christmas parody.

What they got right: By using Christmas Carols we all know, we finally have musical moments we can follow. Otherwise everything is up to the usual high standards.

What they got wrong: I suppose this could have originally been intended for Christmas by Boom or he just wanted to end on an emotional high or something, but there’s more to Winter than Christmas, especially in those parts of the world where it’s actually Summer or at least snow-free Winters.

Recommendation: As one of the writers/artists who have taken issue with Marvel’s treatment of talent, this is Roger Langridge’s last Muppet comic, since Disney took it from Boom and used their own comic publisher. I’ve enjoyed his run and I will miss him on it. This was a good arc to end on and very much worth picking up.

And our best wishes to you, Roger.
