“Takeover” Part 1WRITER/PENCILER: Dan Jurgens

Ronnie and Jason, as the new composite Firestorm, is attacked by a robot who is trying to gather data for one of the New 52’s many secret organizations (probably the guys connected to the “Firestorm Protocols” but I haven’t been following all these groups). Jason’s still able to maintain in school but Ronnie’s in danger of being kicked off of the team because of his grades. Plus their parents seem to have started dating but only Tonya knows that. She was helping Ronnie study when Firestorm headed out to stop another crime in progress which turns out to be a trap!
What they got right: Wait, I don’t know if Ronnie and Jason’s parents knew about the original separate Firestorm powers but the kids actually told them about their new crimefighting gig as Firestorm? Very smart, but why couldn’t they do that for Blue Beetle, too. Besides that, we finally have the Firestorm we should have had a long time ago. By the way, did the updated threads.
What they got wrong: I tried to think of something but I just came up blank. Unless this turns out to be yet another mysterious organization instead of the ones we’ve already seen in the New 52 DCU.
Recommendation: This was the Firestorm comic I wanted a year ago. This makes two New 52 titles I’m interested in. Which makes 50 I don’t care about, and sadly that includes two Superman titles.

I’ve waited too long for this.

While I am somewhat sad about what happened with Ronnie’s dad, his mom and Jason’s dad getting together just tickles me.
“Son a superhero?”
“Yep.”
“Worried?”
“Yep.”
“…”
“…”
“Want to sit on the couch and panic together as we watch the news?”
“You know… I’d like that.”
It practically writes itself! Plus it adds a whole meta layer to it. It’s not just their bodies that are merging, their very lives are coming together.
