New York is suffering an attack by a “lizard monster” being dubbed Slash. Since apparently nobody in New York can tell the difference between a turtle and a lizard, because it is a turtle–namely a snapping Turtle April came across in her Micro-Series tale. He’s hunting the Ninja Turtles as well as damaging what passes for their good name. They have found a potential new home, but “Slash” has found them!
What they got right: Another classic Turtle character is getting a rather decent update. Slash was created for the cartoon and made it into other media. Now I haven’t seen the April Micro so all I know is what I saw here and it’s a decent showing.
What they got wrong: Is it really that hard to tell the difference between a Turtle and a lizard? Slash is a snapping turtle but even if we give them the benefit of the doubt with the way Slash’s shell mutated, the Ninja Turtles look nothing like lizards.
Recommendation: I didn’t get into the original series in part because I kept peeking in on the wrong comic. (Long story.) This time I came in at the right spot and I like what I see here.
