MacGyver: Fugitive Gauntlet #2
Image Comics (November, 2012)
WRITERS: Lee David Zlotoff & Tony Lee ARTIST: Will Sliney COLORIST: Ciaran Lucas LETTERER: Aditya Bidikar COVER: Andie Tong & Ciaran Lucas CONSULTING EDITOR: John Porter
With both good guys and bad guys after them, Mac and Kari end up in Cairo to find the guy who stole the information. Unfortunately, someone got to him first, and Kari knows him quite well.
What they got right: The action elements balance out well with MacGyver’s usual strategies (the Best Scene nomination would have been three pages long), but it’s the plot that drives the story without the characters being ignored as we learn more about Kari.
What they got wrong: Honestly I can’t find anything wrong with the comic. The subplot with the price on MacGyver’s head could have gone wrong but it doesn’t interfere with the story at all.
Recommendation: I think fans of the show will like this, but there’s some extra action elements that will appeal to new readers as well. Give this a look.
