It Girl & The Atomics #4
Image Comics (November, 2012)
“Dark Streets, Snap City” part four, “Little Sister, Don’t You” WRITER: Jamie S. Rich ARTIST: Mike Norton COLORIST: Allen Passalaqua LETTERS: Crank! COVER ART: Michael & Laura Allred “ATOMICS” CREATOR: Michael Allred
Nana is back on Earth as Lala Wa-Wa, or is she? After all, Nana is also bopping around space with The Laser. The truth involved alternate dimensions opened thanks to Madman’s various adventures. Back at the nightclub, the villains plot another revenge on the Skunk while at the lab It Girl gets dragged into Lala’s world.
What they got right: Ah, comics. Could Lala’s origin work anywhere else? Otherwise, the usual fun and great artwork are still here. We even get enough backstory on Nana to be up to speed if you haven’t been following the series. AS one of those people, it was most welcome.
What they got wrong: Your average casual observer of comics is going to take one look at this and run screaming. It’s that kind of nonsense that only works in comics.
Recommendation: Hardcore superhero comic fans tired of the angst and bloodletting of current superhero titles should be picking up this book.
