With Urv dead, Clare missing, and Harrison injured, Boxer isn’t doing very well. While trying to get Harrison medical attention he is met by Hikari, who is having second thoughts about her employer. All this must be put aside, however, with the arrival of Space Godzilla, Gigan, and Hedorah, and Monster X. And according to the “fairies”, Godzilla and the other Earth monsters are our only hope, so Boxer plans to do something about it.
What they got right: Godzilla and the gang as guardian monsters? Young me would definitely approve. Gane’s depictions of each monster is great and you hope to see more of them. Oh, and frickin’ Monster X, the early form of Kaiser Ghidorah? There’s one we haven’t seen since Final Wars, so it’s great to see someone really did their homework.
What they got wrong: I wanted to see more Clare and less Boxer. 😦 That aside, we really don’t see the monsters land. We get a splash page and suddenly everyone’s talking about them. In Kingdom of Monsters they appeared slowly, naturally. And why did they start by leveling the place if they’re supposed to be protecting it? I still like my idea of Mothra convincing the Earth monsters to help instead of saying they were always meant to save the Earth despite spending so much time wrecking the place. (Especially if KOM is still canon in this ongoing.
Recommendation: This is an interesting turn, despite coming almost from nowhere. That said, the the monsters still look cool. It’s worth at least taking a look at.

I liked it too, and my take is that without Mothra as a controlling element, or the space monsters’ presence as a focus for their attacks, the Earth monsters ARE destructive rampagers. In fact, wouldn’t it be interesting if Earth’s Guardians consider human cities as “alien” things to be expunged from nature? They’re not Humanity’s Guardians.
