This “interlude” tale focuses on the band in space, or more accurately Mr. Gum, the Plastic Man-style drummer, as his efforts to impress a pretty girl leads to the hero helping a bunch of locals reach a paradise. However, someone already lives there and sometimes the good guys really aren’t.
What they got right: I don’t know if they’re going for the “you can take someone else’s land” story (although if they are they’re more subtle than Jim Cameron) but they do tell that story quite well. As the previous arc, the characters are interesting and the story fun. The alien character designs don’t always make sense but it’s better than a lot of aliens. Too many people want to design something as non-human as possible to the point of making no biological sense whatsoever. These guys…they see to say “what would look fun”. Last issue mentioned Mr. Gum and the band in space so seeing what they’re up to makes sense as a break from Earth events.
What they got wrong: Isn’t it nice to have a comic with nothing to complain about?
Recommendation: I’m enjoying this series thus far. Worth picking up.
