Shockwave is determined to finish the work he started on Grimlock, to suppress his robot form making his dino form’s mindlessness the only trait. Ultra Magnus and the other Dinobots race to save their comrade. If they survive the Dinobots have a surprise for Ultra Magnus.
What they got right: This mini-series idea will continue in the comic side of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters, the next season of the TV series. And I just checked; the same creative team will remain. EXCELLENT! The action, well thought-out ideas, a respect for the world and characters they’re given–it all leads to a well done story.
What they got wrong: At some point Shockwave versus the Dinobots became cliche. It happens in the regular IDW Universe and it happens here. As much as I enjoyed Marvel US #7-8, it’s time to stop repeating it. Let Beast Hunters be the end of it, please.
Recommendation: The best Transformers comic IDW has published in a long time. Hopefully what made this mini work will continue in the Beast Hunters comic. Pick this one up.
Couldn’t decide between Dinobots breaking through the wall or Ultra Magnus’ line. Luckily they’re on the same page.
