Superman Family Adventures #10
DC Comics (April, 2013)
CO-WRITER/ARTIST: Art Baltazar CO-WRITER: Franco EDITOR: Kristy Quinn “SUPERMAN” CREATORS: Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster
Kal-El is able to restore Jor-El for 24 hours, allowing him and Lara to spend some time together. Meanwhile, Zod and his family escape the Phantom Zone and prepare a new plan to take over Earth Planet Houston using…hot dogs? But he isn’t the only villain soon to make an escape.
What they got right: This was fun, and just a bit touching seeing Jor-El and Lara together, or even seeing Lara and Ursa catching up like best friends. Sure it goes against even pre-52 Superman but it’s so fun you won’t care.
What they got wrong: The Superparents didn’t get to meet the Kent parents.
Recommendation: This may not be the Superman comic I’m looking for, but it’s still a fun one, especially for your kids. If you want to use a modern comic to introduce kids to the Man of Steel, this would be it.

This is my favorite Superman book in YEARS. Part of the reason is that it doesn’t feel the need to stick to established canon, so we get things like a Lois Lane who knows Clark is Superman but chooses to play along, and a resurrected Lara (which, to date, has paid off in the scene you discuss).
