The city decides to honor Mega Man on his “birthday”, which interests Doctor Wily and draws the former Blues, now Break Man. Battle in joined but thanks to the upcoming Sonic crossover the ending is…unresolved.
What they got right: While the majority of the story is the Mega/Break Man fight (and a well-done fight) there are some fun moments with Mega Fanboy Auto, Guts, Cut, and Bomb Man trying to find Rock a gift, and the over the top mayor. It helps make the story complete.
What they got wrong: Except for the ending, which may or may not be a fourth wall breaking (no pun intended, Break Man) due to the upcoming Sonic crossover. Maybe this was the wrong time for this story unless it plays into events. I guess we’ll find out in the next issue and this year’s Free Comic Book Day offering.
Recommendation: Still a good story and if it turns out to be a set-up to the Sonic crossover it could be important. Even if it isn’t it’s worth getting for Mega Man fans.
