WRITER: John Barber
ARTIST: Dherraj Verma
COLORISTS: Sanjay Kharwar (also cover) & Priscilla Tramontano
LETTERER: Chris Mowry
EDITOR: Carlos Guzman

One constant in comics is that Grimlock disagrees with Optimus Prime’s ways. So when he and the Dinobots Lightning Strike Coalition get a lead on how the Decepticons are getting their energon they ignore orders and common sense and head out to investigate. However, it’s a trap by Shockwave and if you read the recent Dinobots mini-series you know what happens next.

What they got right: The High Moon Studios games (except for the movie adaptations) are set in the same universe as Transformers Prime so this fills in the origin of the Dinobots, and Barber does like his “filling the gaps” stories. The art, while not leading an outstanding Best Scene moment, is well done and makes better use of panel space than a lot of comics, only using big panels when it is needed.

What they got wrong: They still don’t explain where the name “dinobot” came from. Nobody’s calling the creatures dinosaurs yet.

Recommendation: If you didn’t get the digital books or want a version that you can read if the servers are down, this is a good version to have.
