Godzilla: The Half-Century War #5

FINAL ISSUE

WRITER/ARTIST: James Stokoe
COLOR ASSISTS: Heather Breckel
EDITOR: Bobby Curnow

2002: Artarctica. The world is in bad shape thanks to more space monsters, Gigan and Ghidorah, arrive behind Space Godzilla. The new Mechagodzilla, piloted by an aging Murakami, is forced to team with Godzilla against them, but a new “Dimension Tide” weapon” (only in this continuity it’s a cannon rather than a bomb) will end this war.

What they go….You know what, forget the format. THIS COMIC WAS GREAT! Mega monster battle! That’s what we came to see! Godzilla. Mechagodzilla. Gigan. Ghidorah. That was awesome! I can’t even choose a Best Scene. Sure the human race having a black-hole producing cannon is worrisome and there’s the obligatory “did Godzilla survive” teaser, but who cares? That was one of, if now the best, kaiju battle in an IDW Godzilla comic!

Recommendation: Pick up the mini-series or trade of this comic. Watching Murakami age with this world and the fight in this issue are all worth it. This was a great mini-series. And sorry James, but that’s what I want it to stay. This story was great the way it was.
