With Kid Vigilante gone, American Spirit still doesn’t trust is former sidekick, Jack. He tries to get Jack to kill the girls, although our favorite micro-girl gums up the work and prepares another surprise. The big surprise, though, is how the American Spirit won the war…and what he’s in league with.
What they got right: I like seeing the girls kicking some butt. We finally have the origin of how the American Spirit did what he did, although we’re still unclear on exactly what he did. I like the conversation with Jack. The last page, if you examine it (especially the last panel), works provided we get an explanation of the, I’m assuming, incantation next issue. They also use the opening “retro” splash to explain why Jack appears to be a robot and could have been the Spirit’s sidekick and where the plot device machine came from.
What they got wrong: Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this issue. I like being able to say that.
Recommendation: It may be taking a while to get new issue out but it’s really worth it. You might be better waiting for the trade than trying to find earlier issues but I’m getting into this comic.
