After the events of the previous Godzilla series, Earth is experiencing a moment of peace. But that doesn’t last long. Gigan’s masters have come to claim him, and Kurmonga’s not able to stop him. A woman named Lucy Casprell is in Hawaii to take part in a daikaiju conference when Zilla (the name given to Roland Emmerich’s “Godzilla In Name Only” monster in the Final Wars movie) arrives, and GODzilla shows up right behind him!

What they got right: A new threat and maybe a further explanation of the one from the previous series. The art is well done and what little fighting we get was also good. It seems the world is starting to deal with a kaiju world. I also like the nods to Emmerich’s movie when Zilla first appears. Hopefully Rulers Of Earth succeeds where Final Wars failed and “fixes” this Zilla like Godzilla: The Series did. (The Fox Kids show, not the old NBC one.)

What they got wrong: Sgt Woods is back? WHY!? I was hoping never to see him or Boxer ever again. Speaking of Boxer, the previous miniseries hasn’t ended yet. Isn’t it kind of early to break out the new storyline before the old one is complete? There are some potential spoilers here.

Recommendation: Pick this up because it’s really good but wait until the old series ends before you start on the new one.

    Yeah, the sequence really mystified me. I thought for a second they had just rebooted the title under a different name.

      I think that’s what they did. The narrator (I think it was Lucy) talked about the conclusion to events in the current ongoing, although we haven’t seen said conclusion. Plus Woods is (sadly) back, confirming all three ongoings are in the same continuity.
