“City Fall” part 3
STORY: Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, & Tom Waltz
WRITER: Tom Waltz
ARTIST: Mateus Santolouco (including selected cover) with Mike Henderson
COLORIST: Ronda Pattison
LETTERER: Shawn Lee
EDITOR: Bobby Curnow

Shredder’s forces wage war on the other gangs but he uses Old Hob to trap the Turtles, sending the now brainwashed Leonardo against Splinter and his brothers. But another Turtle is there to help. Meanwhile, Casey wakes up.

What they got right: I like how we get a look at Curai in training, and that she is trying to add other styles to her repertoire. She’s an interesting character and I can’t wait to see her “Villains Micro-Series” issue. The story itself is good and while I’m hoping Leonardo is restored by the end of this storyline it is a story that I have no issues with. Also, Casey’s mom appears to him and gives him a break from his father. For Casey’s sake I hope his old man comes to his senses eventually.

What they got wrong: I have no complaints. With the editor as part of the story credits I should expect worse thanks to DC and Marvel history with editorial mandates, but while I don’t know how much contribution Curnow is bringing to the story this doesn’t feel like editorial meddling is ruining the story.

Recommendation: I”m really enjoying this arc, and it’s one to really check out.

Because I like to keep the language clean here at the Spotlight I cannot full voice the reaction of that Foot ninja.
