Worlds’ Finest #15
DC Comics (October, 2013)
“Down The Rabbit Hole” WRITER: Paul Levitz PENCILER: Emanuela Lupacchino INKER: Guillermo Orgeto COLORIST: Jason Wright LETTERER: Carlos M. Mangual ASSISTANT EDITOR: Anthony Marques EDITOR: Mike Cotton GROUP EDITOR: Eddie Berganza “HUNTRESS” CREATORS: Paul Levitz, Joe Staton, & Bob Layton “POWER GIRL” CREATORS: Gerry Conway Ric Estrada & Wally Wood
Power Girl arrives at the other end of the Boom Tube and faces off against Dessad’s forces while Huntress frees herself and makes a new “friend”. But even when they escape Desaad takes a victory…by messing up Power Girl’s powers!
What they got right: Power Girl and Huntress looked good in action? The choreography was good but that’s really all I’ve got. There wasn’t really any story to tell, and we got a bit more of Dessad’s depravity in the New 52. That’s really it.
What they got wrong: Mr. Levitz, a few people I know (as well as myself) have taken to saying that you seem to be favoring your creation over PG. This really isn’t helping. A “Power Girl loses her powers” story would be interesting if these stories didn’t so often turn into a story showing love only to the powerless heroes like Batman or in this case Huntress. Seeing how Levitz hasn’t shown a lot of the affection he has for his creation to the other heroine, I see that happening again.
Recommendation: I didn’t hate this issue, but only because I’ve been reading the series all along. Otherwise it’s a rather generic comic so look through it first if you haven’t been following and see if it works for you. (And if it does, buy it because this isn’t a library, darn kids.
