Snarl tries to lead the others to the surface, while Grimlock and Swoop attempt the same with the New Kalis residents. Meanwhile, Slug and Sludge learn a bit about their new traveling “buddy” as they attempt to reach the now lost Lost Spark.
What they got right: These continue to be the Dinobots I’ve been wanting. They’re take-charge without being total jerks, and they (as Snarl demonstrates) care about their people and (as Slug sort of demonstrates) others. I like watching how each group deals with the situation. Then you have the mystery of the revitalized Energon.
What they got wrong: I’m still trying to figure out where this places in the show, or if it does at all. What I mean is, how far back does this story take place compared to the TV show/video game events?
Recommendation: Don’t let the lack of a Best Scene nomination fool you. This is still a great read and the only Transformers title I’m still drawn to pick up. Keep an eye on this one.
