Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters #7
IDW Publishing (November, 2013)
STORY: Mike Johnson & Mairghread Scott WRITER: Mike Johnson ARTIST: Agustin Padilla COVER ART: Ken Christensen COLORIST: Priscilla Tramontano LETTERER: Tom B. Long EDITOR: Carlos Guzman
The Dinobots reach the surface with their charges in tow, except Blackout and Zoom (called that last one). However, a Predacon has also reached the surface and the Dinobots do battle while the other Autobots follow a supposed summons to Kaon–except for a few old friends who drop by to help the Dinobots.
What they got right: So this seems to be finally connected to the show it claimed to be adapted from. The art is mostly good.
What they got wrong: I say “mostly” because the fight scenes are claustrophobic, almost like Michael Bay directed them. That’s why there’s no Best Scene nomination despite a Dinobot/Predacon battle. Also, Blackout dies with little fanfare and Zoom dies with less character development despite showing up a storyline earlier.
Recommendation: If you want to start with this series I would begin earlier in the arc or the series as this just seems to be set-up for the next issue. Still enjoying the series, though.
