While everyone is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, it should be remembered what almost sunk it, the assassination of John F. Kennedy. If the BBC didn’t give the pilot a second airing the series may never have happened.
The official report is that Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, firing from the book depository. However, there are conspiracy theorists who insist that there was another gunman, and one of them is Oliver Stone, a man who seems willing to not let facts get in the way of his docudramas. At least that’s what my Reviewers Unknown colleague Chris “Rowdy C.” Moore says. As the host of TV Trash, Rowdy usually goes over bad TV shows and the occasional TV Treasure. But living in Dallas means that every year around this time the conspiracy theorists rise up again, so he uses Stone’s movie, JFK. to poke holes in the conspiracy theory that surrounds JFK’s assassination. To help counter he goes into his usual format and reviews the Quantum Leap episode “Lee Harvey Oswald”.
Since I don’t have his permission to post the videos themselves, which I believe is still a big deal in the “Reviewaverse” community, here’s a link to the page on his website with the reviews. If at some point I do get his permission I’ll post it here.
I also recommend looking for a mock court trial produced by I believe A&E called The Trial Of Lee Harvey Oswald. It’s also pretty enlightening, but like Rowdy says in his review, some people will never give up this idea of a conspiracy, no matter how the facts are actually not on their side.
