In the main story, Venom goes to check on Ann after the events of the story I’m missing, only to find someone wanting to kill him (that’s nothing new) because her daughter’s boyfriend was injured during those events. Also, the Sin-Eater isn’t dead and also goes to Ann’s apartment swearing revenge. The woman’s daughter shows up to stop her mom and chaos ensues. Not having followed the previous stories I’m only mildly aware of what’s going on so it’s tough to give this any kind of recommendation. You do get a moment when Ann “wears” the Venom symbiote during the fight, but that doesn’t last long. It feels like it’s wrapping up an unnecessary subplot and seems to end when Sin-Eater somehow gets his hands on a bunch of dynamite and attempts to become a suicide bomber, only Venom ensures he gets blown up alone. Hard to really gauge this one.
The second story also has someone blaming Venom for his plight, but it’s the same kind of fool reasoning that the Jury original had for going after Spider-Man. (By the way, I wish this had been more of them.) In this one-shot story a former SHIELD agent accidentally gasses himself trying to come up with a nerve gas to use on Venom. So naturally it’s Venom’s fault because shut up and now he wants to take control of the symbiote. It’s actually a fairly decent story, but not enough to keep these two issues in my collection. I just didn’t get into it. Maybe getting the other issues would help but I’m not convinced and between my budget and oversized comic collection I’m just not interested enough to keep it. Otherwise, I can’t follow what’s going on enough to recommend this series, except for the back-ups.
