The tournament is called “Sugar Ray”, so you can guess which boxer this is named for: Joe Fraiser.
With me doing “Yesterday’s” Comic every midnight (or at least five nights as of the current schedule–DC Mon, Marvel Tues, Jonny Quest Wed, Transformers Thurs, Guyver Fri, at least until I’ve finished Quest and Guyver), I plan to choose the best fight of the week (although with Guyver I have to wait until I get past the GNs to the usual US-style comic) and use that for my Fight. This week, it’s the alternate universe X-folk.

“Sugar Ray” round 1
The Battlefield: Amazing X-Men #3 (Marvel; May, 1995)
The Promoters: Fabian Nicieza (writer), Andy Kubert (penciler), Matt Ryan (inker), Kevin Somers (colorist), and Richard Starkings (letterer)
Apocalypse, who now rules the world with Xavier dead before he could create the X-Men (long story and I still want to know what happened to the Avengers), sends his “infinites” to attack the X-leader, Magneto. However…
You don’t send robots, or cyborg clones, or cloned cyborg…don’t send metal people against Magneto!
Head to Spacebooger.com and vote in the Friday Night Fights. (Forum membership isn’t required to vote, only to comment.) And if you have a large comic collection and a blog space, feel free to join in. We could use the competition.
