Escaping New York, our heroes head to Northampton, where April has a place for them to rest near her parents home. As April brings Casey to meet her folks, Leonardo is still trying to find out who he is, but there’s another wrinkle…Alopex has followed them!

What they got right: The series needs a cool-down after “City Fall” and this would be it. How Leonardo will heal and what part the now clanless Alopex will play in that has yet to be seen. Also, we meet April’s parents and they seem nice enough, but they may have a connection to Stockgen, making them as much a part of events as Casey’s dad. (Also, April finally learns about what happened to Stockgen, but possibly not Karai’s part in it.) It’s not just simply a respite but a continuation of the backstory and character development.

What they got wrong: The Turtles are now dead ringers for the current animated series instead of following their own look, even April almost. There’s already a tie-in comic to the TV show, so this should set itself apart since they’re not for the same age group.

Recommendation: I’m still very much enjoying this series, so don’t let the lack of a Best Scene nomination get you. It’s too good as a whole to pick just one.
