In the latest installment of Chris Sims’ “Ask Chris“, a question is answered about subtlety in comics and whether or not it’s a good thing. After all we grew up with some blatantly obvious names for characters that almost seemed to determine their hero/villain identity or an obvious chain of events, or being clobbered by a message. Sims examines when a lack of subtlety can be used well and make a story fun versus when it actually hurts the story, and how sometimes it boils down to personal taste.
