On the yacht, Nightwing battles Lady Vic to not only protect his potential informant but his young daughter as well. As the fight leads to the destruction of the yacht, the lawyer and the girl are safe, but he turns out to be another dead end, and Lady Vic is payed off by Soames on behalf of his boss…and then shows up in her secret identity at a party in Gotham Bruce Wayne is attending.
What they got right: The fight scene between Nightwing and Vic was real action packed. Also a glimpse of Dick’s new life working the bar and trying to build his own information network. One thing we were mostly denied with Batman is seeing him start from scratch. While a lot of his official connections hadn’t been built yet, he was off to a start, but usually we only get flashbacks of his early days. He we get to see Dick starting his “new life” as it happens, and that’s interesting.
What they got wrong: Yep, Lady Vic’s costume is still stupid. (And yes, I did find out about the lingerie outfit. That was sexist and yet still better than this thing.) Also, the line work isn’t the best here. Some shots have exaggerated lines, like they were rushed while others are, for the 90’s, not bad. It’s kind of a shame.
Recommendation: A good Nightwing story that’s worth checking out.
