The Fox #5
Red Circle (April, 2014)
“Future’s End” WRITER: J. M. DeMatteies ARTIST: Dean Haspiel COLORIST: Allen Passalaqua ASSISTANT EDITOR: Vincent Lovallo EDITOR: Paul Kaminski
Issues #s 3 & 4 sold out before I could get to them. I got lucky with this issue since it was the last one on the shelf. Apparently the Druid was defeated last issue, only “shards” of himself were sent across time and space, one of them ending up during the events the Shield was discussing in the back-up stories. Now the Fox must unite the Shield and his enemy counterparts, Master Race (Germany) and Hachiman (Japan), or else the only winner of the second World War will be the Druid!
What they got right: I wouldn’t have called the back-up becoming important to the main story. That’s sneaky. I also like the three sides coming together because they don’t want the Earth destroyed. Also, one of the guys learns what their side is really like and has a change of heart. Also good.
What they got wrong: While I personally love it, since I have nothing to really put here I will warn anyone who doesn’t like “fight hate with love” solutions you’re not going to like this. Also you make me sad.
Recommendation: I can see why this comic is selling out. If you CAN find an issue, pick it up. And if you know how I can get #s 1, 3, and 4 (I live in Connecticut), please let me know.
