YouTube’s Content ID system has affected me and my fellow video reviewers, as well as Let’s Players, rather negatively. Disney also bought up Maker Studios, one of the largest YouTube partner groups. However, none of this is why Fast Co Labs contributor Adam Popescu thinks YouTube may start losing some of their top talent, but rather the way it handles revenue sharing. Ever since they offered this, there are people who make a living off of their YouTube videos, which means more time to devote to them. That’s provided every viewer isn’t using AdBlock, something Popescu didn’t mention in the article explaining the other factor that revenue is down. Could there be a solution or will content creators have to find a new home to keep doing what they love as a career?
