You know what I liked about these issues? They didn’t feel as close to the show’s style, which as I said yesterday I’ve outgrown. (Yet somehow I still enjoy Cartoon Planet. Go figure?) Instead we get a story where Zorak tries to use voodoo on Space Ghost just after a visit to the eye doctor and the dentist leave him dilated and a bit loopy. I can see where people would find it funny but I just didn’t.
The same for the second story, but it’s also the kind of story I never really like. Space Ghost is gaga over the new waitress at the studio diner but can’t bring himself to talk to her. So Lokar volunteers (for a fee) to write her love letters in his place. Then Zorak and Moltar find out and don’t seem to mind having Space Ghost treating them like garbage again if it means making him miserable. Which is kind of stupid when you think about it. That story ends with Brak offering to write something for him, but signs his own name and she runs off with him. Like I said, I hate this plotline as far back as the original Cyrano story that keeps getting ripped off.
Maybe someone who is still a fan will enjoy this, especially the first one as it’s written by one of the show’s writers, who up until now has been doing art duties on these stories. As for me, I’m not keeping this one in my collection. I never did pick up any of the others in the Cartoon Network Starring rotation so tomorrow, since I still don’t have any new comics, we’ll start a new old title.
