You may have heard on Twitter today that Archie Andrews is going to die. Did you read the actual article? Because the media, even the comic media, seem to be willing to obscure the fact that he isn’t dieing in the main titles, but in the spin-off Life With Archie title.
In issue #36 Archie is going to die, presumably in both timelines. For the uninitiated, Life With Archie is a magazine-sized comic which follows two possible futures: one where Archie marries Veronica and one where he marries Betty, aka the better choice. Apparently in one or both continuities Archie will die. Above is one of the many variant covers but this one seems to indicate he’ll be shot. I have heard no confirmation other than Archie will die helping a friend. Obviously they’re not going to spoil things. They aren’t DC or Marvel, after all.
The way the headlines I’ve seen made it sound you’d think he was dieing in the other titles that form the main Archie universe. I think you had the same deal when Peter Parker died in the Ultimate Universe. Speaking of which, Peter will be returning in the main Spider-Man title.. And as long as the same Spider-Writers are around…
Archie’s spirit would live on anyway. Hmmm….I wonder if he’ll show up in the other spinoff?
