Granted it’s the only part of the art that’s doesn’t make me cry.
Bruce goes to the Fantastic Four for help in getting to the gamma reactor on Avengers Island and to check on the Avengers. SHIELD tried that and didn’t have a lot of luck, but Iron Man stops the second shuttle from going in before learning that Bruce is alive, and before Reed, Sue, Captain America, and Hellcat learn Bruce is the Hulk! Also, Loki decides to taunt Nick Fury, and he’s the only one who knows they’re in a new reality. [continues in Iron Man V2 #6]
What they got right: Half-way through the “Heroes Reborn” event is a decent time to have a full HR team-up crossover, and this cements the theory that the Hulk tale goes through all of the Heroes Reborn stories, or at least Iron Man and Avengers. I have no problem with how they were brought together. By the way, was it explained how Loki knows this is a new reality and Thor doesn’t? At least I’m guessing he doesn’t from what I remember of later appearances and the “Return” four-parter.
What they got wrong: But the art is not very good. Not the worst I’ve seen, but the Thing is still oddly proportioned and in the second double splash page that didn’t need two pages the Human Torch looks wrong. In that same spread they put Sue in a bikini, complete with the “4” logo, for no good storytelling reason. Also, the actual dialog is sometimes hard to hear in actual conversation, as if there’s something missing or just poorly worded.
Recommendation: Bad art and bad dialog are not saved by a decent idea. I can’t really recommend this one, but this isn’t the worst this thing will get to. Wait until the NEXT team-up.
