Godzilla: Gangsters & Goliaths #4a

I wasn’t going to go into this because there are potential spoilers, but since this has become Unintentional Godzilla Day here at BW Media Spotlight, why not? The “Asia Trailer” has dropped from Legendary for the 2014 Godzilla movie. It shows a bit more of the monster and a bit more of the tone for America’s second attempt as a Godzilla movie. It gives me a little more hope for this movie. Just a little, though.

The tone reminds me of the “Millennium” (or third series) set of Godzilla movies in that they’re going for the darker, more somber tone instead of having fun with the idea like the first two series eventually learned to. We do have Godzilla appearing to be the lesser of two evils, in line with the last two series, which I can get behind. However, it’s still the darker tone movie I didn’t want. And there’s still the government cover-up nonsense. Well, at least I still have the IDW comics and this could still be a good movie. I don’t hate the Millennium movies (it has 2000, Final Wars, and the two-part Mechagodzilla after all) but they’re my least favorite due to the tone and lack of continuity between most of the films.
