I don’t know if I completely agree with everything Saladin Ahmed posted to Buzzfeed and I’ve never heard the racism or even forced sexism angle in regards to the Comic Code, but there are still some interesting comments made in this article about how the Comic Code may have set creativity back, not completely but quite a bit. He does also note that today’s comics may not even be better off without it because they didn’t shake the CCA off for the right reasons. (Also, Ahmed forgets that the comics industry shook off the CCA because their enforcement of the code often made no sense.) It’s still an interesting read.
