Godzilla: Rulers Of Earth #12
IDW (May, 2014)
STORY: Chris Mowry (writer) and Matt Frank (artist) INK ASSISTS: Mostafa Moussa COLORIST: Priscilla Tramontano SELECTED COVER COLORIST: Thomas Deer LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Bobby CurnowThe team is attacked by mini-Destoryahs until the big one shows up. They’re saved by Jet Jaguar using…well, just check the Best Scene nomination, but Woods is injured. Godzilla fights the others right to the Devonians home and the military decides to just bury everyone by collapsing the underwater canyon. With Godzilla gone and our heroes betrayed by what they thought was a new ally, the world is in big trouble!
What they got right: For starters, check out the Best Scene nomination. This was something I never expected to see and now I’d miss not seeing it. As usual the characters are good and the monster fights are great. While I still haven’t forgiven Woods for letting the not-Jersey Shore cast die because he still hasn’t shown any remorse I did feel bad for him here, so that’s at least a partial redemption on Mowry’s part.
What they got wrong: The only disappointment this series has given me is the fact that most of the covers are pin-up art that do nothing to show what’s going on in the comic. Going over the Marvel run has shown me how much I’m missing that.
Recommendation: In the time I was out with the kidney stones you should have already bought this comic. If not, go do that. Maybe this will help.
