Godzilla: Rulers of Earth #16
IDW (September, 2014)
STORY: Chris Mowry and Matt Frank WRITER: Chris Mowry ARTISTS: Jeff Zornow & Matt Frank COLORIST: Priscilla Tramontano SELECTED COVER ART: Matt Frank LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Bobby Curnow
The team makes an alliance with Spetsnaz agents to track down Anguirus but end up with Godzilla in their laps as the two monsters team up against the assembly line MechaGodzillas and Mecha King Ghidorah, controlled by the Evil Twins. It’s the final showdown of this story arc.
What they got right: Mowry and Frank (and possibly Zornow, depending on which scenes he drew) outdid themselves with this fight. We also get a nice moment with Woods and Allie and I’m admittedly warming up to him, but there’s still that part of me remembering the dead reality stars. Still, that was an awesome fight!
What they got wrong: So are we going to get an origin for the Evil Twins or are they written out of the story again? Was a larger purpose served in having them control Mecha King Ghidorah rather than some computer control?
Other notes: I just realized something interesting. In Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah we saw King Ghidorah controlled by villains but turned into a hero monsters as Mecha King Ghidorah. In this continuity he started out as a supposed guardian monster but turned evil as Mecha King Ghidorah. Interesting flip there.
Recommendation: I want Mowry and Frank to stay on this franchise as long as possible. These has been the best Godzilla comics in a long time and I want to see what they do next. Get these comics!

You’re watching Godzilla use Anguirus to smash the assembly line MechaGodzillas. I’m predicting the winner this week.
And trust me folks, picking one scene from this fight wasn’t easy until these two panels popped up.
