The earliest writing credit I can find for Mr. Larson is an episode of The Fugitive, which is no sci-fi show. Actually, even going over the creator credits, Larson didn’t make nearly as many sci-fi shows as you’d think, being the creator of Battlestar Galactica and Knight Rider. I don’t know if Larson was still pitching Adam’s Ark (the show that became Battlestar Galactcia at this point.
The Fugitive, for the uninformed, was a TV series starring David Janssen as a man falsely accused of murdering his wife, seeing the man who did it while on the run from the cops. You may be more familiar with the movie adaptation with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. William Conrad, a decent actor with his own credits, provided the narration. The series was produced by Quinn Martin, who was responsible for many crime dramas in the 60s and 70s.
In the episode “In A Plain Paper Wrapper”, which he co-wrote with Jackson Gillis, and made into a teleplay (script) by John Kneubuhl, A friend of Kimble’s current identity has a nephew come from Kimble’s town, and knows who he really is (but not the fact that he’s innocent)The boy teams with some local brats to capture him. One of those punks (you know I like kids but something is wrong with this bunch) is played by a young Kurt Russell. They’ve been trying to pool their resources to buy a gun at a time when that was a lot easier. That factors into the plot.
