I never even saw the first two, and for some reason I thought it was a one-shot, possibly a graphic novel. I was wrong, although I’m sure there will be a trade at some point.
Godzilla: Cataclysm #3
IDW (October, 2014)
WRITER: Cullen Bunn ARTIST: Dave Wachter SELECTED COVER ARTIST: Bob Eggleton LETTERER/CREATIVE CONSULTANT: Chris Mowry EDITOR: Bobby Curnow
Not having read the first two issues (although I really want to) I only have a vague idea of what’s going on, so please take that into account. Apparently Biolante is supposed to end the post-apocalyptic world or something, so Mothra wants to protect a surviving piece, other monsters want to destroy it, and then Godzilla shows up.
I admit that the idea of a post-kajiu apocalypse story sounds like a good idea, and what I see in this issue shows. The art style is not to my taste, although I can’t deny it provides a proper atmosphere for the end of the world.
As it stands, since I’ve missed the first two issues for full context, I can only recommend giving this a look based on the concept. Someday I hope to get caught up on this series and hopefully be proven right in promoting it.
