The Independent reports on a seven year old girl in the UK who took a sign at a Tesco that seemed to suggest superheroes are only “fun for boys”. Considering how female superhero fans of any age group are getting left behind, I’m on her side even if it was an honest mistake. It was in the boys department. There are toys that traditionally are sought after by a particular gender so I don’t have a problem with “boys” and “girls” toy sections but how many superhero toys are made for girls that aren’t “you can comb their hair” dolls?
