A group of scientists are brought to Lord Howe Island in Australia by a woman who claims to be a Marine Biologist, but she has no pupils and owns a reactor. She brought them to watch the first of her crustacean monsters go into Sydney to do damage, but Godzilla is waiting for it…and after a big struggle destroys the giant lobster. However, she has the scientists frozen and she will begin work on another monster.
What they got right: The monster fight is pretty good and G-Force gets to do some things without overshadowing the monster fight. (Gareth Edwards, take note.)
What they got wrong: You know you only have one story (because I’m pretty sure this isn’t followed up in the next and final issue) and you make a cliffhanger? Who is this woman? Why did she kidnap all these nuclear scientists? This will never be answered. And why does the monster not have a name? Even if we use the cover’s “Lord Howe Monster”, that doesn’t match the typical Godzilla naming style. And why was Godzilla sitting out there. Did he know the monster was coming? How? It was just released while he was standing there.
Recommendation: It’s a good story but with too many questions that will never be answered. It’s still worth it for the monster battle, though.
