Like I’m really in condition to suffer more of this. Optimus is still having his prophetic dreams, but Grimlock disobeys orders (surprise, surprise) to launch a surprise attack on the Neo-Decepticons terrorist style. And once again Grimlock stumbles into an easy trap. Optimus has to put his visions aside to rescue the idiot and his team, but Red Alert and Mirage are killed in the process. Grimlock feels back, realizes he was just using the other Autobots to prove he’s earned leadership as much as Optimus and realizes he didn’t and got two of his comrades needlessly killed in a failed mission. And Optimus…puts him in charge? At least when the Autobots voted Grimlock leader way back when he had shown Autobot actions only to do a 180 by the next issue. Here, what has he done to earn temporary command while Optimus goes to Cybertron to attempt to clear up his vision? Kup is also a jerk as usual. I hate Furman’s Kup and I kind of wish he went on the mission like he wanted, seeing what happened to Red Alert and Mirage. Speaking of whom, I checked. While Red Alert didn’t have a G2 figure, Mirage did, so it seems like a bad move killing him off.

The first chapter of the “Tales Of Earth” back-up feature features the Earth getting destroyed. What is with Furman and destroying Earth? He seems to do it so often in his stories, even in ReGeneration One. This time Bludgeon is trying to draw out Optimus, but what he gets is Megatron and Starscream. And why would Megatron revive Starscream? Yes, I know there was a Starscream toy in the G2 line, but there was also a Mirage toy and we know what happened to him.

Once again this comic lives down to my expectations. I still don’t understand why this comic has fans. The art is terrible and the story is some of Furman’s worse, and I am willing to blame the 90s for a lot of it, but after ReGeneration One, not all of it.
