I’m not even going to pretend these are separate stories simply because they have different titles. It’s the same story with a different artist or art team (except the colorist, who remains the same). Megatron goes seeking reanimum gas, which will make the Decepticons even stronger. He also debuts two new toys warrior groups, the Laser Rods and Rotor Force. (I’ll leave you to look up those toy gimmicks if you’re interested.) However, Jhiaxus’s forces shoots down one of the Decepticon ships and not surprisingly the Decepticons aren’t happy about it and go for revenge. When Jhiaxus learns of these events he says that he’s tried tact and diplomacy. He has done neither. Even with the Autobots it was a typical “join us and fulfill your destiny of forgetting everything that makes you who you are” speeches.
So the Decepticons go after their decedents…and get their metal butts handed to them. Even Megatron suffers defeat and damage at the hands of Jhiaxus. While this is going on Optimus is still recovering from his injuries last issue when he fought Megatron through the ancient art of doing absolutely jack. What follows is another recap of his go arounds with Megatron before the damaged Decepticon leader shows up on the Autobots’ doorstep.
This was boring, man. The Decepticons put up no challenge at all to the Neo-Decepticons. I think it’s supposed to show how powerful the Neos are but not even one gets a scratch on him? The rest is a “clip show” of Optimus’ history with Megatron (what little there actually was in the comics). This may be the most unnecessary issue yet.
