Transformers Generation Two #8

It took the comic long enough for the obligatory Optimus/Megatron team-up.

Transformers: Generation Two #8

Marvel (June, 1994)

WRITER: Simon Furman
COLORIST: Sarra Mossoff
LETTERER: Richard Starkings with O’Neil
EDITOR: Rob Tokar

“Escalation” parts 1 & 2
PENCILER: Manny Galan
INKER: Jim Amash

“Tales From Earth” part 5
ARTIST: Derek Yangier

I’ll give Furman credit for one thing. His speech writing has improved. I don’t mean the dialog, that’s still all over the place. I mean Jhiaxus’ villain speech and Optimus’ hero speech to their respective troops during this story. Jhiaxus had decided to level the universe to draw the Autobots out. What he didn’t plan on was Megatron joining forces with the Autobots and turning the tide during one extermination raid. However, afterwards Starscream turns up missing.

They tried treating this like three stories, with “Tales From Earth” interrupting “Escalation”. That was kind of useless. It’s all one story and even though the art team doesn’t change this will continue next issue. I actually summarized the entire comic rather quickly. I’d call the fight scenes good but the artwork is as terrible as the rest of this series. So not-so-long story short, there is nothing to recommend here. As usual.

This afternoon should be a longer story. I think.
